Blood Drive Several times each year, St. Louis Parish participates in the blood drive sponsored by LifeBlood of Memphis. Blood donors are needed, as are volunteers to recruit and schedule blood donations by parishioners. Contact: Mary Margaret Koch 755-7824
Dinner for Eight This social program places participants in groups of 8 to enjoy monthly dinner together. It provides a unique and enjoyable way for parishioners to get to know one another better. New groups are formed each year. Married and single persons welcome! Contact: Donna Byrnes 683-8205
Elizabeth Ministry Elizabeth Ministry is a quiet, one-on-one ministry of support, offered by women of the parish to other women during their child-bearing and child-rearing years. Contact: Reba David - 682-6606 ext. 234
Fishers of Men A group of Catholic men who meet weekly to discuss their Catholic faith and their leadership role in their families. Ministry to the Bereaved Our Ministry to the Bereaved sponsors many seminars and support groups throughout the year. Contact: Reba David - 682-6606 ext. 234
Ministry to the Sick Volunteers visit the sick of our parish in their homes, hospitals, and nursing homes. Those who are Eucharistic Ministers also take Holy Communion to the Sick. Training is offered on the diocesan level and here at St. Louis. Contact: Jan O'Donnell 682-6606
Ministry to the Imprisoned Our parish Ministry to the Imprisoned takes a special interest in the inmates at the State prison in Mason, TN, and the Mark Luttrell Center for Women in Memphis. Some parishioners visit the inmates once each month, others offer a supportive role by collecting magazines, spiritual books, and making Christmas baskets. Contact: Don Nobert - 683-9819
Newcomers’ Welcome Committee This committee will make sure new parishioners feel welcome and receive a proper orientation to our large parish and its many activities. Contact: Terry Acosta - 753-3337
Parish Outreach Our Outreach committee initiates projects which serve our community through some rewarding and fun initiatives. Volunteers are needed to support these projects in terms of organization, recruitment, food preparation and prayer. Contact: Tera Simmons - 685-5022
Perpetual Adoration St. Louis Parish has the extreme blessing of having a Chapel in which the Blessed Sacrament is exposed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Parishioners (and others) commit to one hour segments in the Chapel with Jesus, since the exposed Blessed Sacrament must be attended at all times. Having continual adoration of Our Lord is a glorious enrichment of the prayer life at St. Louis, a remarkable aid in spiritual growth and development. Pro-Life Committee Our main focus is to educate and inform all Catholics about life issues regarding abortion, capital punishment, cloning, and euthanasia, We will always promote the teachings of the Catholic Church and the Gospel of Life. Rosary/Prayer Brigade Prayer is the greatest force to seek God’s aid for our needs and concerns and to overcome the powers of evil in our society. Many are unable to be active in other ministries due to time constraints or being homebound. However, we can all commit a little time each day to pray for the needs of the church and our community. Rosary Makers Guild St. Louis Rosary Makers Guild was organized in May, 2004. We welcome anyone who would like to learn how to make rosaries to our meetings on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month. Contact: Joe Pike - 684-6687
St. Angela Ministry This ministry, named after the patron saint for those who are handicapped, disabled and challenged is being developed to address the unique needs of those parishioners with disabilities and their families. Respite time is offered from 4:15-7:00 p.m. on Saturdays to allow families of these parishioners to attend Mass or go to dinner together. St. Vincent de Paul Society
Our parish has a St. Vincent de Paul chapter. The Society assists the poor and needy in times of crisis. This “hands on” service depends on volunteers who visit the poor and help assess, as well as meet, their needs. Contact: Tom Wilkinson - 683-9573
Traveling Crucifix At a Mass of your choice on Sunday, the Honor Family is presented with the Traveling Crucifix which they display in their home during the following week. The family agrees to pray for religious vocations during that week. Contact: Joyce Arnold - 683-7270
