St. Vincent de Paul Society

Our parish has a very active St. Vincent de Paul chapter.  The Society assists the poor and needy in times of crisis.  This “hands on” service depends on volunteers who visit the poor and help assess, as well as meet, their needs. Contact 901-236-9327.

In addition to supporting our Ozanam Center Soup Kitchen at 1306 Monroe, St. Louis SVDP works the soup kitchen at Holy Names every Wednesday. The Ozanam Center Soup Kitchen serves a meal to the poor every day of the year from 9 am-11. Average number of guests per day is 200. Our soup kitchen is expanding services to those we help and recently did blood pressure checks. We are now offering guests reading materials and personal hygiene items. Drop off magazines, books, soap, shampoo, and deodorant to 1306 Monroe or leave them in St. Louis Church office marked for SVDP and we will deliver the.

If you would like to help the poor and learn more about SVDP, please attend one of our meetings. Our St. Louis Conference meets the first Monday each month in the Clunan Center at 6pm. Our Memphis Diocese Council meets the second Monday each month at 6:45pm and we rotate the location each month among our 10 parish members. Thank you again for remembering the poor in your donations to SVDP. God bless!

We collect food year round with food baskets in the Narthex and at both side doors. God bless you for helping others.
